BOV Women's League - Birkirkara FC 5-0 Mosta FC

Birkirkara FC Women's Team extended their perfect start in the BOV Women's League by their third consecutive victory, when yesterday evening they registered a comfortable 5-0 victory over Mosta FC.

Four goals in the last thirty-minutes of the match added gloss on the Stripes' third consecutive victory as the defending-champions extended their perfect start. The Stripes were in total control of the match and the result was beyond any doubt.

Coach Melania Bajada rotated her first-eleven selection for this match as she made four changes from the previous match. Veteran goalkeeper Nina Dimech, Cassie Camilleri, Yasmeen Vella and Kelly Agius Pace replaced Janice Xuereb, Jelena Sakic, Samantha Zarb and Alishia Sultana.

The Stripes surged ahead after thirteen minutes. Ann-Marie Said, playing in-front of the defence once again, unleashed a powerful shot from outside the box that gave goalkeeper Sarah Zarb no chance.

Birkirkara deservingly doubled the lead on the fifty-eighth minute. Raina Giusti delivered an inch-perfect corner kick and Captain Stephania Farrugia dived full stretch to hit an eye-catching flying-header past Zarb.

The wait was over for Ylenia Carabott to score her first domestic goal with our Club, as on the sixty-fifth minute the highly-rated forward converted a penalty kick, following a hands-ball inside the box by the Mosta defender.

Three became four just five minutes later. It was another accurate corner kick, this time taken by substitute Tracy Teuma, that once again found Stephania Farrugia and the towering defender hit another powerful header past the Mosta goalkeeper.

The Stripes notched their fifth goal just before the full-time whistle. Substitute Mariah Sciberras served Kelly Agius Pace and the latter, on her first start since her long-term ACL injury, hit home with a powerful shot from inside the box.
