Birkirkara FC completed the first round of the BOV Women's League when yesterday evening, they scored two goals in each half to defeat Kirkop United FC with a comfortable 4-1 score. Ylenia Carabott, Kailey Willis, Sarah Urpani and Kelly Agius Pace scored a goal each for the Stripes.

By this victory, the Stripes have won all their seven matches in the first round. They finish the first-round commitments with a five-point lead over Hibernians and six points over Mgarr United. Birkirkara will take on Hibernians next week, in the first match of the second round.

The Stripes went out with all guns blazing and they took just three minutes to surge ahead. Yasmeen Vella's cross was headed by Kailey Willis into the path of Ylenia Carabott and the latter's close-range effort hit past the Kirkop United goalkeeper, Sharon Costantino.

Birkirkara continued to dictate matters and they doubled their lead on the thirty-sixth minute. Kailey Willis showed her skills in-front of goal as the fifteen-year-old forward profited from a loose ball inside the box and headed past the on-rushing goalkeeper.

There were more positives for the Stripes after the break, as youngster Veronique Mifsud made her first appearance in this league campaign as she fully recovered from an injury. Mifsud replaced Ylenia Carabott, while in another change, Sarah Urpani replaced Raina Giusti.

Both substitutes left their mark as they combined well in Birkirkara's third goal on the fifty-sixth minute. Veronique Mifsud played an elegant cross towards Urpani and the latter showed great technical skills to dribble past her opponent before she drilled a shot that hit the post and went in.

Kirkop United pulled one back on the seventy-second minute. Colombian midfielder Paula Andrea Cano Amortegui played an excellent through-ball towards substitute Demi Magrin and the up-and-coming youngster kept her cool to place the ball past the Birkirkara goalkeeper Janice Xuereb.

However, the Stripes regained their three-goal lead late in the match to add further gloss on their victory. It was another action combined by two substitutes as Mariah Sciberras delivered an inch-perfect cross towards Kelly Agius Pace and the latter controlled well before hitting home from close-range.
