Ylenia Carabott scored a wonderful free-kick to give Birkirkara FC a vital victory in the BOV Women's League against her former side Hibernians FC with a 1-0 score. The Stripes extended their perfect start by winning their eight straight match and move six points clear on top.

The high qualities of Carabott came to haunt her former side as the twenty-nine-year-old offensive forward scored a gem of a goal directly from a free-kick position to hand Birkirkara their second victory against Hibernians in this league campaign.

The Stripes dictated matters in the first half and they were denied twice by the woodwork before scoring the all-important goal ten minutes from half time. Ylenia Carabott stepped-up for a free-kick outside the box in a centre position and she hit a wonderful shot in the right top corner.

Hibernians put everything forward in the second half and they were unlucky not to make the score level through Shona Zammit's long-distance shot, but her shot hit the crossbar. Dorianne Theuma hit a fine free-kick, but goalkeeper Janice Xuereb produced an excellent save.

The Paolites, who had their Coach Neil Zarb Cousin sent off late in the second half, put everything forward but they were unable to break Birkirkara's resistance as the Stripes held on for a vital victory to move eight points in-front of the same Hibernians.
