Clayton Failla joins Birkirkara FC

by Ayrton Galea - 2nd January 2019

Birkirkara FC completed their second signing in the January Transfer Market after reaching an agreement with Floriana FC for the permanent move of the National Team player, Clayton Failla. Failla signed a two and a half years contract just a few moments ago.

Failla needs no introduction in Maltese football. The thirty-two-year-old player, who can play in both defence and midfield, established himself as one of the best left-footed players on our island and his signing will provide more experience to the squad.

He is a product of Zabbar St. Patrick's FC and he made his debut in the BOV Premier League in Season 2004-2005. He moved to Hibernians FC in 2005, where he spent three seasons a half and then moved to Sliema Wanderers FC. After two seasons, he returned with Hibernians FC in 2011.

Clayton will join our Club following a short spell with Floriana FC, after he joined them in the beginning of the season to end his successful long spell with Hibernians FC. With the Greens, he made twelve appearance, in which eleven were from the start, and scored two goals.

Failla is also an active player with the National Team. He made his debut on the 19 November 2008 in the international friendly match played at home against Iceland. He has a total of fifty-five caps with the National Team and scored two goals.

We would like to welcome Clayton while wishing him all the best of luck in his adventure with our Club.
