by Ayrton Galea - 8th January 2019

Birkirkara FC completed one of the biggest transfers in the January Transfer Market after reaching an agreement with Hibernians FC for the signing of the midfielder, Johann Bezzina. Bezzina signed a five-year contract with our Club just a few moments ago.

Bezzina, who is a product of our Youth Academy, estabilshed himself as one of the most-promising Maltese midfielders on our island. He is a verstaile player that has the ability to play in all positions in midfield and his signing will increase further the midfield departement of our squad.

He has been playing in Malta's highest division with Hibernians FC since season 2010-2011, expect for a short loan spell with Sliema Wanderers in the second part of season 2015-2016. Despite his relatively young age, he has won every honour that the Maltese football offers with Hibernians FC.

On the other hand, he has made his debut with the National Team in the international friendly match played on the 6 June 2017, against Ukraine. He has previously represented the National Team in the Under-21's and Under-19's levels respectively.

Club's Technical Director, Mr. Michael Valenzia has shares his views on this signing. "We are delighted to welcome Johann to the club. We have been after his signature for a while and worked long and hard behind the scenes to achieve his signature. We look forward to work with him and we would like to wish him the best of luck during his time with our club."
