FA Trophy - Mosta FC vs. Birkirkara FC

by Ayrton Galea - 23rd February 2019

FA Trophy finalists Birkirkara FC will be aiming to secure a place in the semi-final of the Malta FA Trophy when they take on Mosta FC this afternoon in a match that will be played at the Hibernians Stadium (Kick Off – 16:00).

The Stripes have failed to win in their last three matches, as a defeat to Valletta FC and back-to-back draws against Floriana FC and Gzira United FC have seen them losing further ground for a top-four finish in the BOV Premier League.

Their last victory was in fact in the previous round of the FA Trophy, when in the fourth round of this competition, they completed a fine comeback to defeat Hamrun Spartans FC with a 2-1 score. In the third round, the Stripes defeated Nadur Youngsters FC with a comfortable 4-0 score.

On the other hand, Mosta FC are coming from three positive results in the BOV Premier League including two victories against Tarxien Rainbows FC and Hamrun Spartans FC with a goalless draw against Balzan FC in between.

In the FA Trophy, the Blues defeated Sliema Wanderers FC with a 2-1 score, while in the previous round, they defeated Senglea Athletic FC with a 3-2 score, following the extra-time period.

Birkirkara FC and Mosta FC have met once so far this season and in the first round of the BOV Premier League, the Stripes emerged as winners with a 3-0 score. Marcelo Henrique scored a brace, while the other goal was scored by Michael Mifsud.
