BOV Women's League - Mgarr United FC vs. Birkirkara FC

by Ayrton Galea - 25th March 2019

Birkirkara FC and Mgarr United FC will go head to head in the much-awaited top of the table clash of the BOV Women's League this evening in a match that will be played at the Mgarr Grounds (Kick Off - 20:15).

The dominant two sides in this year's league campaign, Birkirkara and Mgarr United, will go take on each other in what promises to be an exciting match that can provide an indication where this championship will be heading.

With six points clear on top, Birkirkara will have the upper-hand that two out of the three possible results will favour them and a victory will see them moving just one point away from being declared champions for the third consecutive time.

The Stripes, the only remaining unbeaten side, won fifteen out of their sixteen matches with the only two points dropped were in the second round against Mgarr United FC when both teams fired blank in a goalless draw.

Birkirkara are coming from an incredible 6-0 victory against Hibernians FC, which was the club's biggest victory over their opponents. This was the Stripes' fourth consecutive victory and the second consecutive one in Section A.

On the other hand, Mgarr United FC also won all their four matches after the draw against the Stripes. They are coming from a comfortable 3-1 victory against Kirkop United FC to keep their hopes alive of winning their first ever title.

Two goals by team's top-scorer Kailey Willis and a last-gasp penalty save by goalkeeper Janice Xuereb enabled the Stripes to secure a narrow 2-1 victory in the first round match.

Come on the Stripes!
