Birkirkara FC suffered a harsh defeat in the second match of the mini-tournament qualifying round of the UEFA Women's Champions League when they were beaten by Olimpia CFF with a 6-1 score.

Three goals in the last thirty minutes punished the Stripes with another big scoreline despite sharing the play with the opponents for the first hour where they created several scoring chances.

A goal by Kim Parnis leveled the score for the Stripes and a sending off to Olimpia's Ioana Bortan gave them a numerical advantage. However, a goal Phoenetia Browne regained Olimpia the lead and scored four goals without reply.

Olimpia surged ahead after seventeen minutes through Mara Batea, but the Stripes made the score level four minutes later. A short clearance from a corner-kick fell to Kim Parnis who struck a thunderous shot from outside the box that gave the Olimpia goalkeeper no chance.

The Stripes received another morale boost on the half-hour mark when captain Ioana Bortan was sent off for Olimpia following a foul without the ball on Gabriella Zahra.

However, Olimpia managed to regain the lead just before the half-time whistle through a close-range header by Phoenetia Browne.

The Stripes went all out searching for the equalising goal in the second half and they missed two good scoring chances before Olimpia made them three just pas the hour mark by Cristina Carp.

Down and out, the Stripes failed to make a reaction and Olimpia managed to find the net another three times by Mihaela Ciolacu, Andreea Voicu and another goal by Carp.
