Club Statement - Miguel Alba

by Ayrton Galea - 13th July 2019

Birkirkara FC would like to inform its loyal supporters that following a meeting with player Miguel Alba on Saturday afternoon, the club and the player have resolved the differences that came about last week.

The club announced that Miguel Alba signed a two-year contract with our Club on Wednesday, 26 June and he reported for the first training session just a few hours after signing the contract with our club.

The player left the island without the club's permission on Saturday, 6 July to fly to Bolivia to be closer to his mother who is going through a difficult time. It emerged that during his time in Bolivia, the player was to sign a contract with Club Deportivo Jorge Wilstermann.

The club has verified that the player's mother health condition is unfortunately in need of close attention and the player did not sign any contract with the above-mentioned club. The player has unreservedly apologised for his actions that were taken in a moment of distress.

It has been agreed that the player shall be fined three months wages and shall report for training with the rest of the group as of Monday, 15th July.

The club confirms that the contract with the player is still valid and the club is obliged to honour the contract. No further comment shall be made by both the club and the player who shall be issuing his own statement in the coming days.
