August - All you need to know

by Ayrton Galea - 1st August 2019

August has started and we will take a look of all the important dates of this month, in particular, the participation of the Women's Team in the UEFA Women's Champions League and the start of the BOV Premier League.

UEFA Women's Champions League

Following seven weeks of training, the Women's Team will be aiming to build on last year's historic draw when they play in Group 10 against hosts Gintra Universitetas FC of Lithuania (7 August), KF Vllaznia Shkoder of Albania (10 August) and Wexford Youths FC of Ireland (13 August).

The group will be played in Lithuania and the contingent which includes twenty players will travel to Lithuania in the early hours of Monday morning. The club is supported by SportMalta for this competition.

BOV Premier League

On the other hand, this month has also been much-awaited as it will see the start of a new season. The BOV Premier League will officially kick off on Friday, 23 August.

The Stripes will play two matches in this month as they take on Floriana FC in the first match (23 August) and then take on Senglea Athletic FC five days later (28 August).

Friendly Matches

Prior to the start of the BOV Premier League, the team led by Coach John Buttigieg will be involved in three friendly matches.

The Stripes will play Senglea Athletic FC (3 August - Senglea Grounds - 18:00), Zebbug Rangers FC (8 August) and Tarxien Rainbows FC (17 August). The kick-off time and venue for the last two friendly matches will be announced soon.
