by Ayrton Galea - 15th August 2019

Birkirkara FC's journey in the UEFA Women's Champions League for this season came to an end last Tuesday and the club would like to thank everyone involved who has helped the Women's Team throughout this journey.

The club would like to start by putting on record the unwavering support by the club's president, Mr. Frank Zarb, the committee members of the executive committee and the women's team committee.

The club would also like to thank SportMalta for their support and help throughout the entire journey in this competition. Their support and help have been an asset for the club to prepare the journey in the best possible way.

The team produced two resilient performances in the first two matches against Gintra Universitetas FC of Lithuania and KF Vllaznia FC of Albania where the team was unfortunate to lose with a narrow 1-0 score.

In the last and third match, the team scored a goal in each half but three late goals shattered the hopes of securing any points as the team fell to a heavy defeat against Wexford Youths FC with a 7-2 score.

Nonetheless, the club would like to put on record the work being done by Coach Melania Bajada together with her entire technical staff and players who all play a key role in the team's success from year to year.
