Birkirkara vs Floriana Postponed

by Clayton Schembri - 30th October 2020

The BOV Premier League game between Birkirkara - Floriana, scheduled for Saturday at the Hibernians Stadium, will be postponed to another date due to COVID-19.

The decision was taken after five senior players(men) have tested positive for COVID-19 and the whole squad has been put into mandatory quarantine. In a statement the Malta FA said that the match will be postponed due to COVID-19 as Birkirkara FC do not have a minimum of 16 players (inculding two goalkepers) available from their squad list.

This is the second time in less than three months that the whole squad of Birkirkara FC has been put into either in self-isolation or mandatory quarantine. In August all the team was stopped during pre-season after a team member was tested positive for COVID-19.

Birkirkara FC will be struggling to return to winning games as they will be at least two weeks without training. For sure It's a building year, but we want to get results. The team will need a bit of time, but the results will arrive.

We would like to take this opportunity and wish a speedy recovery to all the team.

Stay Safe! Forza Birkirkara! Come on the Stripes!
