Match Preview - Birkirkara VS La Fiorita

by Clayton Schembri - 15th July 2021

Birkirkara FC will be involved in the second leg of the first qualifying round of the UEFA Europa Conference League this evening, when they will play away from home to face La Fiorita from San Marino, kick-off at 20:45.

The Stripes are in a comfortable position to make it to the second qualifying round, as a draw would be enough for them. However, the coach is asking his players for another tactically disciplined performance in order to be able to make it to the next round.

Head Coach Andre Paus confirmed his faith in his players, and he believes that the team will qualify to the next round.
Addressing a press-conference moments after the last training session at the San Marino stadium, Paus said, “We were the better side last week and we could score more goals. We have prepared for this match and tomorrow there are ninety minutes where I expect big fighting spirit and playing our hearts out.”

The important goal by Yannick Yankam scored on Thursday could have set a defensive tone for today's match, as a draw would be enough for qualification, but Coach Andre Paus completely rules out this possibility.

He said, “We have a good result but how can we defend for all the ninety minutes? The best defence for me is attack.”

The Stripes are expected to be in full strength tonight.

Come on Stripes!
