Birkirkara FC registered a winning start in the BOV Premier League, as the Stripes scored three goals in the second half yesterday evening at the National Stadium.

Jeferson Macedo scored the opening goal early in the second half before two late goals from Leandro Aguirre and Federico Falcone handed the Stripes a much comfortable win and ensure the first clean sheet and the first three points of the season.

Birkirkara created the first scoring opportunity after four minutes. Diego Venancio did well to find Luke Montebello on the second post, but the latter's headed wide.

Mosta went close few minutes later. When Johnson Nsumoh tried a first timer after receiving from Okosi Edher but went wide.

The Stripes went close again from Venancio`s freekick, but goalkeeper Christoffer Mafoumbi saved his attempt and from the rebound Jeferson`s effort ended wide.

Birkirkara started the second half with all guns blazing and Montebello missed an open chance when his close-range header sailed over the bar.

The Stripes surged ahead on the 55th minute. When Jeferson struck a shot past Mafoumbi.

Birkirkara remained in control as they enjoyed most of the possession and on the 90th minute the substitute Leandro Aguirre doubled the score with a shot from close range.

In the dying minutes, the Stripes wrapped up the win. When Diego Venancio exchanged the ball with Paul Mbong before serving Federico Falcone who placed the ball inside the empty net.

Diego Venancio was voted the BOV Player of the Match.
