Birkirkara 2007 - ?

What crosses your mind first when you hear the words: Birkirkara FC ?

1) How do I pronounce it???? :):):)

2) I saw Birkirkara become champions in the 05/06 season so I knew it was a top club.

Do you wish to keep playing for the team or do you have any other plans in mind ?

I wish and plan to stay with Birkirkara.

Many people have noted that you are the player who has the most respect for 'The Stripes' supporters, what role do you think the supporters play during a match ?

It means alot for us players that we have the support from our fans! It definately increases our motivation and especially through difficult periods of the match.

If you had to change anything related to Birkirkara FC, what would it be? and why ?

Anything.... - train on real grass instead of artificial turf

Are there any lessons you learned whilst wearing the Red and Yellow shirt, that you will surely never forget ?

Yes there is a few.... obviously one of them is the reason why I missed the FA Trophy final last year

In what position do you think our side will finish this season?

3rd...

Which Premier League player do you find it most difficult to defend against?

Terrence Scherri, Hibs

Which team do you enjoy beating most? and why?

Always a great feeling to win! But mentioning one team it has to be Valletta! Overall, they have the best squad and together with the fact of everyone predicting them to be champions before season starts makes it even more enjoyable. Not to forget the atmosphere from both sides - its a great experience

Is there a particular game which you will never forget ?

Yes... again more than one, but the UEFA cup last year against Hajduk Split - even though losing 4-0 and hardly touching the ball it was still a great experience:)

Which player do you consider to be the most important for our side?

Sean Bajada, his drive going forward is a big asset for us plus his crosses are putting a danger to any defense.

According to you, what needs to be done for Maltese football to enhance its reputation ?

Many things - I will list a few;

- Corruption, no tollerance!

- facilities, train on grass, train on full pitch etc

- open communication between all parties (MFA, Referees, clubs, Players etc)

Surprisingly enough, this season our side did well against teams considered to be "big" but has sometimes found it difficult against "weaker" sides, what do you think is the main reason behind this?

Its a very difficult question. But I think we have to admit that we are not good enough when we need to keep the ball and control the game. It's too easy for smaller teams to wait for us to make mistakes and punish us! Furthermore looking at all the goals we conceeded this year, we must have beaten the record of conceeding "stupid/easy" goals.

If you had to pick Malta's best eleven players (including foreigners), who would they be?

Goalkeeper: Mario Muscat, Hibs

Defense:

Bezzina, Valletta

Adrian Pulis, Hibs

Myself :)

Sean Bajada, Birkirkara.

Midfield:

Jamie Pace, Valletta

Kevin Sammut, Marsaxlokk

Andrew Cohen, Hibs

Alex Muscat, sliema.

Strikers:

Terrence Scerri, Hibs

Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza, Birkirkara

Did you ever consider ending your career with Birkirkara FC?

Yes, I don't plan anything else

In the name of all Birkirkara FC supporters, I wish to thank you for spending some time to respond the questions brought forward to you, and wish you the best of luck for the future !
