Five-minute chat with Comvalius

by Matthaeus Grasso - 24th January 2010

Prior to the match vs. Floriana, BirkirkaraFC.com decided to have a chat with Dutch striker Sylvano Comvalius about a number of events which the club has went through, or will go through in the next few days.

We decided to kick-off our conversation by discussing the club's last game against Hibernians, which saw the latter score a late equalizer in the dying seconds of the match.

Sylvano had this to say: "Everybody was very disappointed because first of all, we deserved to win and played much better than Hibs. Overall, I think we must be happy with the point we achieved and have to look forward to the upcoming games. In the first round match against hibs, although we where the better team, we stole a point in the last minute, and now it was the other way round. We showed once again that we are a winning team that is very hard to beat (8 games without defeat)."

When asked about the support that the supporters give to our squad, Comvalius said: "Me and the rest of the players were very glad and proud to see a lot of people coming out to support us.. I think that a team like Birkirkara that is on top of the standing in Malta and which plays such attractive attacking football, deserves to have a big and great crowd behind it."

With regards to the upcoming match against Floriana, Birkirkara FC's current top scorer, had this to say: "It's going be a difficult game, like any other at the moment. At the moment, Birkirkara are still the team to beat, so every team is looking forward to put us down. In the end we have to win this game, there's no other option. We are top of the table now, and against a team like Floriana (with all due respect) we can't afford to lose any points."
