Andrew Decesare shares his thoughts

by Ayrton Galea - 6th September 2010

Following Birkirkara's last friendly match before the new Premier League season, it was time for one of our new acquisition, Andrew Decesare to share his views with the official website.

The former Tarxien Rainbows player managed to impress Mr. Paul Zammit with his skills and Decesare joined our club for at least the next two seasons in which we are sure his skills will help both in the midfield and defense departments.

First, Andrew spoke about Friday's match where our team managed to beat the 1st Division side with a 3-2 score line. "In my opinion, I think that we had a good game even though we had several players missing due to, either their duties with the National Squad or being ruled out injured. Another negative factor, that we had no substitutes besides the goalkeeper, Manuel Bartolo.

"Like every game, there's always room for improvement but this is the main aim of these friendly matches: to learn from our mistakes as the best training session you can ever get is actually playing a competitive game"

As every player gave his thoughts about the upcoming season, Andrew was not an exception and his comments were: "The next season will not be an easy one and I think that it shall be more the difficult than last season as all the teams have improved in no small way, especially with the new rule where every team can have four foreigners inside the field. Another factor will be that everyone will try their best to beat the current champions. What we can do, and I can say we're already doing, is to work as a team so we may have a good chance of bringing the cup down to Valley Road once again"
