"I'm disappointed by the result. We deserved to win."

by Ayrton Galea - 5th November 2010

During yesterday's match, it was only a goal by the Serbian defender, Nikola Vukanac in the 93rd minute that enabled Birkirkara to grab a solitary point, making it the fourth consecutive match where our team did not manage to win.

We decided to ask some questions to yesterday's goal scorer, Nikola Vukanac to share with us his thoughts about the present situation within the Birkirkara FC clan.

Nikola's disappointment following the last match is clear. "I'm disappointed by the result. We deserved to win both this game and the game against Hamrun. We're trying to give our best every game, but unfortunately, luck has not been on our side so far."

.

As everyone could see, yesterday our team dominated, but failed to score until the dying moments of the match. So we asked Nikola to comment on this, and what is happening in his opinion. The Serbian defender replied, "We were the best team in the field during the whole ninety minutes, but we did not manage to score during the first half as we were not concentrated enough.

"We started the second half with the aim and hope to score as soon as possible, but the opposite happened and our players became very nervous. A positive thing that we had, was our 'never say die' attitude, which made us fight till the very last second and we were awarded by a goal in the final few minutes which meant that we had avoided another loss"

Then, Nikola explained how they will use these two weeks pause from the BOV Premier League. " I hope that we will have our full squad for next game, as all the injured players should be fully recovered. We will use these two weeks to see and learn from our mistakes, while of course, our aim is to improve for next match. I do believe that these are small mistakes but sometimes they make all the difference on the pitch.

Nikola concluded with a message for all the Birkirkara supporters. "I know and I do understand that all the supporters are disappointed, like we are, with these last results, but we should stay united. When everything is going good, everyone will be there to support Birkirkara, but the real and loyal fans are seen in the moments when we, the team are unable to obtain the best results."
