Babatunde joins Birkirkara F.C.

by Ivan Mizzi - 3rd February 2011

Birkirkara F.C. continued to strengthen their squad today as they obtained the services of 26 year old Nigerian striker Ibrahim Babatunde, till the end of the season.

Ibrahim Babatunde is not a new face to Maltese football. In 2006 he joined Msida St. Joseph F.C. and he left a very good impression scoring 18 goals, and it was no wonder he became a firm supporter's favourite. His speed and technique were essential for Msida F.C to remain in the Premier League that season. His contribution to the team was awarded by winning the Malta Football Best Foreign Player in the same year.

Babatunde, or 'Baba' as he is affectionately called, was a free-agent which meant that 'The Stripes' had no pressure to sign him before the end of the January Transfer Market. He is expected to join the squad for the first training session today.

Subject to the arrival of the International Transfer Certificate, Babatunde is expected to make his debut this Saturday in the match against Qormi F.C.

We wish Ibrahim the best of luck with our beloved shirt.
