Interview with Rodolfo Kumbrevicius

by Ayrton Galea - 30th April 2011

Today 'The Stripes' will face Marsaxlokk in a very difficult and important match, we decided to interview Monday's scorer, Rodolfo Kumbrevicius to know more how his adventure with our Club is going.

Q: What are your comments about our last match?

A: It was a difficult game, like every one against Valletta. They have a good team and they were playing to confirm that they were the best this season, but we were not playing to confirm anything. We were there to get a place in the Europa League, and some times pressure like this does not help, but we played well and it was a good result.

Q: This was the second time that you were included as a substitute and you scored. This time it was a very important late goal. What were your feelings when you scored?

A: Yes, it was the second time that I entered as a substitute and scored. In the match against Hamrun it was hard, but I had some time to settle, and I scored but last weekend it was even more difficult as I played only few minutes. The pass was well, and I was in the good position to score, and to confirm my style and kind of play. It is my secret to be in the right place at the right time.

Q: After almost four months with our Club, do you feel that you have settled well or are you still facing some problems, like language, pitch surface, etc?

A: Past is past and I am focusing on the next three or possibly four games. My mentality is always like this, to look and move forward.

Q: Have you found enough support since you moved here? Who is your best team mate and why?

A: If I had to choose my best friend from the committee it is Peter Busutill, he was always fair with me. If I had to choose my best friend from our squad, I will choose Emiliano Lattes, as we can speak more or less the same language.

Q: You joined the Club when it was still in the reckoning for the league title, however this did not happen. Now we are challenging for the runners up spot. Does this put extra pressure especially for you, the strikers?

A: We had a very difficult season as we had injuries, players changing, mistakes, etc but this is normal in football. We have more pressure, but nothing out of the ordinary. We are there to score, if not, then the pressure is on us the strikers, in my opinion.

Q: How much do goals, like the one you scored on Monday, increase your confidence?

A: Yes, over here I didn't play a lot of games, but when the chances come I have to try and score. This is always in my mind while I'm playing. I want to find the right place at the right time.

Q: Do believe that we will end in the second place?

I: Of course, we have to respect the others but we are one of the favourites and we have to show this in the pitch.

Q: Do you think that we can manage to win the FA Trophy?

A: I am motivated to win all the games remaining, and I will have to work for this and I think that the other players will do the same. We have our name, our reputation, and the Club believes that we are ready to do it.

Q: What are your plans for the future?

A: My plans for the future are not known yet, in life everything changes fast and in football faster.
