Birkirkara in a do-or-die in Albania

by Ayrton Galea - 7th July 2011

This evening Birkirkara will be facing a difficult task as they will be involved in the away leg of the Europa League First Qualifying Round, after losing the home leg with a solitary goal.

Last Thursday Birkirkara performed a very good performance but an early shocking goal after just one minute saw Vllaznia controlling this early lead and they managed to retain this advantage. All the pressing and attacks made by Birkirkara were futile as Vllaznia defended well and won their away leg.

Without any doubt, today the squad is anticipating a harder task. The attacking department must turn its chances into goals especially when keeping in mind that they are starting with one goal disadvantage.

For this game, Mr. Patrick Curmi will not have available for his selection four players namely Andrei Agius who his contract expired last Thursday, Shaun Bajada who is ruled out injured, Terence Vella and Andrew Decesare.

The match will be played at the Loro Boriçi Stadium located in Shkodër and it scheduled to start at 19:00.

If the match ends with a 1-0 win for Birkirkara, extra time and then a penalty shoot out must take place to decide the winner. If Birkirkara wins the game by scoring two or more, then Birkirkara advances thanks to the away goal rule.

Come on the Stripes!
