September roundup

On Friday Birkirkara played the last game of September, and following is a short roundup of the month, which was the worst month so far in this season.

In this month, Birkirkara played four matches, all from the Premier League where 'The Stripes' suffered two defeats, drew once and won only one.

Matches

In the first match of September, Birkirkara suffered the first defeat, when on Saturday, 10 September, they were dominated by Hibernians with the latter registering a 3-0 win.

A week later Birkirkara dropped another two points and registered the first draw as on Friday, 16 September, they were heled in a 2-2 draw by Mqabba with Bojan Mamic, who was on trial with our Club but was not offered a contract scored a brace for Mqabba.

Birkirkara's negative streak continued on Saturday, 24 September when 'The Stripes' suffered another loss against Sliema Wanderers with a solitary goal in the second half.

The only win registered in this month was on Friday, 30 September when Birkirkara defeated Marsaxlokk with a 2-1 score thanks to goals by Rodrigo Pereira and Moises Avila Perez.

Team Statistics

In these four matches, 16 players were utilised with Moises Avila Perez being the top scorer of the team with five goals from six matches.

In this month, Birkirkara collected 12 yellow cards, but no red cards were shown. One penalty was ordered against, which Mora managed to block the attempt.

Players' updates

After missing the first four games, the latest acquisition made by Birkirkara in the Summer Transfer Market, Shola Haruna Shodyia was available for selection as all the paperwork and registration with the MFA was finalised and he made his debut on Saturday, 24 September, against Sliema Wanderers, where 'The Stripes' were beaten with a solitary goal.

Head Coach

On 28 September, Birkirkara FC parted ways with Head Coach Patrick Curmi, and Assistant Coach Peter Pullicino took the helm of the team.
