Birkirkara seek revenge over Tarxien

by Ayrton Galea - 17th February 2012

Birkirkara will be seeking to get back on track when they face Tarxien Rainbows tomorrow afternoon.

After beating Balzan Youth with a very comfortable 4-0 score, the loss of 4-1 against Valletta was too harsh for Birkirkara, as they had their chances and were unlucky in several episodes of the match.

On the other hand, Tarxien Rainbows won three precious points in the battle at the bottom of the league. After the match ended 2-2, they protested over the ineligibly of the Serbian midfielder Ivan Kurtusic. They were awarded a 2-0 win to move third from last.

Mr. Paul Zammit should not have any selection problems as Rowen Muscat has recovered from his injury and no one is suspended. On the other hand, Justin Grioli is suspended for Tarxien.

A berth in the Championship Pool is still not guaranteed for our team, as there are only three points between the four teams of Birkirkara, Balzan Youths, Sliema Wanderers and Qormi. The latter are occupying the 7th position, three points under the other three teams who are all at level points.

In the first round, Tarxien surprised and defeated Birkirkara with a 3-2 score. Rowen Muscat scored his first goal ever in the League, with Moises Avila Perez scoring the other goal for our team.

The match will be played at the National Stadium and it is scheduled to kick off at 14:00. Transport will leave from Valley Road at 13:00.

Come on the Stripes!
