Birkirkara, Floriana in battle for third place

Birkirkara will be aiming to move to the third place when in the first match of the Championship Pool, they will face Floriana.
Birkirkara seem to be back on track, after their disappointing opening of the second round. Following the 1-0 defeat against Floriana, Birkirkara picked up nine out of the possibile twelve points as they beat Balzan Youths and in the last two matches they defeated Tarxien Rainbows and Hamrun Spartans with an identical 3-1 score. These two wins saw Birkirkara ending the 1st phase on a satisfactory and encouraging note.
On the other hand, tomorrow's opponents, Floriana are not going through their best run. They failed to pick a win since 28 February, ironically against Birkirkara where ‘The Greens' registered a narrow 1-0 victory. In the last four matches they conceded a 2-1 defeat against Mosta while they drew against Balzan, Hibernians and Valletta respectively and were eliminated from the U*BET FA Trophy two weeks ago.
In this season, these two teams met three times with the last two being in the Premier League. After a goal-less draw in the Euro Challenge Cup, Birkirkara defeated Floriana with a 3-0 score but the latter won the second round match with a 1-0 score.
Rodrigo Pereira will be back for Birkirkara after he was suspended in the last match against Hamrun Spartans.
After the points were halved, Birkirkara are in the fourth place level with Sliema Wanderers with 18 points, three under Floriana who have 21 points. A win for ‘The Stripes' will see them moved third, which would serve as a good morale boost to keep them fighting for a berth in the Europa League.
The match will be played at the National Stadium and it is scheduled to kick-off at 18:00. Transport from Valley Road will leave at 17:30.
