Football Tournament in aid of Martina Fenech

by Ivan Mizzi - 16th April 2012

Yesterday seventeen teams, three of which were made up of female players, took part in the fund-raising football tournament, which was held in aid of Martina Fenech. Martina who is still a young girl, in a few days time will be travelling to the United Kingdom for medical treatment.

The tournament, which was organised by the Club's Supporters Sub-committee, was won by the ‘Infetti Bar' team.

Around mid-day, the senior team and their technical staff, together with members of the committee visited the tournament, which was held at the Club's Infetti Training Grounds. All of these met Martina individually. The team's captain, Paul Fenech, then presented the donation of €3,620 to Martina's father, which was the total collected at that point. Since more donations were still coming in, Martina's father was invited to go back to the Infetti Training Centre's bar on Sunday 22 April, to receive the rest of the donations. Those who wish to donate to this cause are encouraged to do so on the day.

Birkirkara FC would like to thank the numerous individuals that gave their time and help to organise this event, and to all donors for their help to Martina. This includes the Supporters Sub-committee, the Nursery and coaches, parents of players attending the Nursery, all the rest of the volunteers, and the teams that took part.
