Rodrigo Pereira released by Birkirkara FC

by Ivan Mizzi - 6th August 2012

Brazilian defender Rodrigo Pereira has today been released by Birkirkara FC. Both the player and the Club wished to extend the contract further. However due to circumstances of both parties, it was decided that it was in the best interest of both not to renew the contract.

Rodrigo joined our Club in the 2011 Summer Transfer Market and following a shaky start with our Club, his performances began to improve from match to match especially from January 2012 onwards. By time he established himself as a solid central defender.

In his twelve months spell with our Club, Rodrigo made 36 appearances, he scored six goals. He made his last appearance with our Club yesterday evening, when he was included as a substitute in the dying minutes of the AME Cup final against Sliema.

Rodrigo is set to return to Brazil today.

We would like to thank Rodrigo for his sterling service to our Club, and for his great professionalism both on and off the pitch, while wishing him the best of luck in his career.
