Birkirkara to face Hamrun in tricky encounter

by Ayrton Galea - 19th October 2012

Birkirkara will be involved in the eight league match this evening when they will face a tricky test in the form of Hamrun Spartans.

Birkirkara, still fresh from the brilliant performance in their last match against Valletta, when they were held to a 1-1 draw, will be aiming to confirm their potential. A win for ‘The Stripes' will temporarily put them on top of the table with Valletta, who will face Floriana on Saturday.

On the other hand, Hamrun Spartans still need to find their feet in this Premier League season, as so far they are performing below their expectations. Yet to recover from the humiliating 8-2 defeat to Valletta, Hamrun earned the only victory so far, in the following match when they defeated Melita with a 3-1 score but were then held in a 1-1 draw by Rabat Ajax in the last match.

Birkirkara are second with sixteen points, three behind leaders Valletta while Hamrun are in the tenth position with seven points after both teams played seven matches.

No players are suspended and, injuries apart, both teams can field their best formation.

These two teams already met once this season as they contested the Tivoli Cup with Hamrun Spartans winning the cup with a 2-1 score.

The match will be played at the Victor Tedesco Stadium and it is scheduled to kick-off at 20:15. Transport from Valley Road will leave at 19:15.

Come on the Stripes!
