Women's team to face Gozo in a tricky test

by Ayrton Galea - 26th October 2012

The Birkirkara FC Women's Team will be involved in the fourth match of the league aiming to register their second consecutive win when they face Gozo FC.

After conceding the first defeat in twenty six matches against Mosta with a 3-1 score, Birkirkara bounced back by easily beating Hibernians with a 3-1 score. Birkirkara defeated Hamrun Spartans with a trashing of seven goals with no reply in the first match.

On the other hand, Gozo had a sour opening of their league commitments as they were defeated with a 3-1 score by Mgarr United. However, they bounced back in the last two matches by beating Pembroke Athleta with a very comfortable 6-0 score and Hamrun Spartans with a score of 3-0.

Birkirkara are second with Hibernians, Mgarr and the same Gozo with six points, three behind leaders Mosta who so far maintained a perfect streak.

Although Birkirkara will start as slight favourites in this match, encounters against Gozo were always balanced and entertaining. Last season Birkirkara won all the four matches against Gozo, three times in the league with a 4-0, 7-0 and 4-2 score respectively while they eliminated the Gozitans from the Women's Knock Out with 4-3 penalty shoot out score after the score was still 1-1 after the extra time period.

The match will be played at the Sannat Ground and it is scheduled to kick off at 11:00.

Come on the Stripes!
