Women's Team to face Gozo

by Ayrton Galea - 25th March 2013

With morale sky-high, Birkirkara's Women Team will be facing their second hurdle in the Championship Pool when they will face a difficult test in the form of Gozo FC.

Registering their fifth consecutive victory in the league and launching their Championship Pool phase in style when thanks to a never-give-up attitude and a strong character, the Stripes came from a goal down to defeat Hibernians with a 3-1 score, the Stripes are gearing up in a satisfactory way for the final and crucial stage of the league.

Before beating Hibernians, the Stripes ended the second round commitments with four consecutive victories against Gozo with a 2-0 score, Tarxien Rainbows with a 4-1 score, Mgarr with a 2-1 score and Pembroke with a 7-0 score.

On the other hand, Gozo bounced back well from the 3-1 defeat against Mosta by beating Tarxien Rainbows with a 3-0 score to end their second round commitments on a good note.

However, the Gozitians could not have started the Championship Pool phase worse than they did, as they were trounced with a trashing 7-0 defeat against Mosta in their first match of the Championship Pool.

Birkirkara are second with 36 points, three under leaders Mosta and three over Hibernians while Gozo are fourth, last in the Championship Pool with 22 points, no less than 14 points under Birkirkara.

Following an entertaining six-goal thriller which ended in a 3-3 draw in the first round, Birkirkara registered a 2-0 victory in the second round.

The match will be played at the Mgarr Grounds and it is scheduled to kick off at 18:00.

Come on the Stripes!
