Champions Birkirkara to face Qormi

by Ayrton Galea - 11th January 2014

Ten straight wins have established Birkirkara as the strongest side in the BOV Premier League and tomorrow afternoon they will be seeking to extend the winning streak when they take on Qormi FC.

The winning streak of Birkirkara has turned out to be an impressive one. Tagged as the team to beat, The Stripes are the most consistent side in the league build, and they have built a four-point advantage at the top of the table.

On the other hand, Qormi who are now under the guidance of Mr. Karei Zamen, will have to step-up their performances, if they want to take something from the match. The goal-less statement against Rabat Ajax in their last outing has inflicted another setback and their Championship Pool bid has all but vanished.

They are currently ninth, with fifteen points from seventeen matches, and they have not wone a match in their last three matches.

Birkirkara will be boosted by the return of their top scorer Jhonnattann Benites, and by Ryan Scicluna, who will both be back after having served a one-match supsension. On the other hand, Qormi will be welcoming back Leighton Grech who was suspended for their last match.

In the first round match, Birkirkara and Qormi shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw.

The match is going to be played at the National Stadium and is scheduled to kick off at 16:00

Come on the Stripes!
