by Ayrton Galea - 23rd August 2014

Birkirkara FC will be looking to continue on their fine start to the BOV Premier League when this evening they take on another newly promoted side, Zebbug Rangers FC.

Last Saturday, the Stripes launched their BOV Premier League commitments with a narrow 2-1 win over the newly-promoted side, Pieta Hotspurs, who had to play for more than forty minutes with one player less after having Rafael Xavier sent off. Rafael Ledesma and Ellinton Morais shined for the Stripes thanks to their excellent strikes, with Ledesma also being voted as the BOV Player of the Match.

On the other hand, Zebbug gave a good account of themselves in last Saturday's first Premier League match but their efforts were not enough as they were defeated by the strengthened side of Balzan FC. Zebbug took an early lead but Balzan scored twice to turn the mach in their favour. Zebbug equalized quicly but the more experienced Balzan scored twice to win with 4-2.

During this week, Brazilian defender, Matheus Bissi signed an extension of contract for another two years with our Club, while on the other hand, Zebbug strengthened their squad with the signing of the forward player, Craig Beattie who is a former Scottish International Striker.

The match will be played at the National Stadium and is scheduled to kick off at 18:30.

Come on the Stripes!
