L'Imam Seydi joins Birkirkara FC

by Ivan Mizzi - 29th January 2016

Birkirkara FC continued their recruitment drive in this January Transfer Market when they completed the ninth signing, as just a few moments ago, French-Senegalese forward L'Imam Seydi signed a one and a half year contract with our Club.

In the third signing of the week, after the signing of another two forwards Smrekar and Darmanin, the Club continued to strengthen its forward line with the acquisition of Seydi.

Seydi, best described as a fast and a powerful striker, who can also play on the wing, has enjoyed a number of positive spells in the Hungarian's top division, particularly with Diosgyor, before he moved to Azerbaijan this Summer to join the Premier League Club, Inter Baku FC. Throughout this season, till December, he had made seven appearances and scored one goal.

The six feet tall striker joined Diosgyor in Season 2011-2012 and spent two and a half seasons with them where he played fifty-three matches and scored twelve goals. He moved to Debrecen mid-way through the Season 2013-2014 and spent one and a half seasons with them. In the Season 2014-2015, he joined Nyíregyháza Spartacus FC and scored two goals.

The acquisition of Seydi will definitely strengthen the attacking department and he is the third reinforcement in attack after opportunistic forward Ryan Darmanin and prolific striker Matija Smrekar. He will be the seventh foreigner to join the Stripes during this January Transfer Market.

We would like to welcome Seydi while wishing him all the best of luck in his adventure with our Club.
