Women's Team take on Hibernians in Super Cup

by Ayrton Galea - 12th September 2016

Birkirkara FC Women's Team will be involved in the highly-anticipated BOV Women's Super Cup as the first honour of the season will be at stake when they face Hibernians FC this evening.

It has been a very busy summer for the Stripes by appointing a new coach while they were among the most active teams by signing no less than eighth new players. Mr. Shawn Meilak is the new Coach while goalkeeper Rosemarie Baldacchino, Cassie Camilleri, Sonia Schembri and Leanne Micallef followed their former coach from Pembroke Athleta and all joined on a permanent move.

British midfielder Kelly Lee returned with our Club same as Maryrose Cardona who returned after a short-spell with Dee Ladies while the Stripes made another two key signings by signing Ann-Marie Said and Tracy Teuma on a one-year loan.

The Stripes had a very intensive pre-season by playing a number of friendly matches, particularly against the UK Army Medical Services which won with a comfortable 5-0 score while they won the Kirkop Triangular Tournament against Kirkop United and Swieqi United.

The match will be played at the Centenary Stadium and it will kick off at 19:00.

We would like to encourage you to come to the stadium and support the Women's Team.
