Stripes face Hibernians in match of the week

by Ayrton Galea - 23rd April 2017

Birkirkara FC and Hibernians FC will be involved in the match of the week of the BOV Premier League this evening, when the two teams will go head to head in a match that can carry a lot of weight in the outcome of this year's top-three finish.

With Valletta suffering a 3-1 defeat to St. Andrew's, the Stripes will have the perfect opportunity to strengthen their grip in contention for the third place and move just point behind the Citizens, with two matches left.

The Stripes have been the most consistent team in the third round, an in fact they are the only unbeaten side in these eighth matches. They extended their unbeaten run last weekend, when they traded six goals with Valletta in a very entertaining 3-3 draw.

On the other hand, Hibernians, enjoying a two-point lead on top of the table and a game in hand, have won seven out of their last eight matches. Their only defeat arrived two weeks ago when they were defeated by Valletta with a narrow 1-0 score.

Coach Nikola Jaros must do without defender Cain Attard who is ruled out for the rest of the season.

The match will be played at the National Stadium and it will kick off at 18:00. Transport from Valley Road will leave at 16:30.

Come on the Stripes!
