Umeh and Marcelinho joins Birkirkara FC

by Ayrton Galea - 6th June 2018

Birkirkara FC completed another two major signings, as Nigerian midfielder Uchenna Calistus Umeh and Brazilian offensive player Marcelo De Siqueira signed a one-year contract with our Club.

Umeh needs no introduction in Maltese football as he has been playing in the BOV Premier League with Valletta FC for the last three seasons. The signing of Umeh will see the Nigerian player working again with Coach Paul Zammit, after it was the same Coach that brought him to Malta.

On the other hand, this will be the first experience in Europe and in the Maltese league for De Siqueira. He is twenty-four years old and ‘Marcelinho' was last playing with Brazilian side Novoperario FC in the Brazilian Seria D. De Siqueira is described as a technical offensive player.

The signing of Umeh and De Siqueira follows the signing of Maltese National Team player Paul Fenech, who signed a three-year contract yesterday evening in-front of the Club's members in the Annual General Meeting.

Club's Technical Director Mr. Michael Valenzia was delighted with the signing of these two players. Mr. Valenzia remarked that Coach Paul Zammit identified Umeh as his target to work together again as he believes that the Nigerian player can help the team with his qualities.

On the other hand, on the signing of ‘Marcelinho', Mr. Valenzia is hopeful that he will strengthen the attacking department while the Club's Technical director concluded that the Club is hopeful to have a stronger attacking department than last season.
