Edward Herrera moves to Floriana FC

by Ayrton Galea - 29th December 2018

Birkirkara FC and Floriana FC have reached an agreement for the permanent move of defender Edward Herrera. Herrera signed with his new club just a few moments ago as the transfer has been concluded.

Herrera joined our Club in August 2012 from Hibernians FC and the former player of Melita FC and Pieta Hotspurs FC has played 158 official matches with our Club. He has won every honour that the Maltese football offers including the BOV Premier League, the FA Trophy and twice the BOV Super Cup.

He will be remembered for his goal in the title showdown on 11 May 2013, when his equalising goal enabled the Stripes to defeat Hibernians FC with a 3-1 score and win the title. Furthermore, Herrera was one of the two scorers in the historic victory against Heart of Midlothian FC that led for a historic qualification to the third round of the UEFA Europa League.

During this season, he found little space in the starting-eleven as he only made one appearance from the start, while he was included nine times as a substitute.

We would like to thank Edward for his sterling service with our Club, while wishing him all the best of luck in his new adventure.
