BOV Premier League - Birkirkara FC vs. Pieta' Hotspurs FC

by Ayrton Galea - 18th January 2019

Birkirkara FC will be seeking to return to winning ways in the BOV Premier League and keep the pace with the top four teams, when this evening, they take on Pieta' Hotspurs FC in a match that will be played at the Victor Tedesco Stadium and kicks off at 18:00.

The Stripes were forced to settle for a point last Sunday as the direct clash against Balzan FC finished in a goal-less draw, despite the Stripes being the best team on the pitch and created several scoring opportunities that were not converted.

Following last weekend's results, Birkirkara moved to the fifth place, joined by Sliema Wanderers FC with twenty-five points, just one point under fourth-placed Hamrun Spartans FC while one point over Balzan FC.

On the other hand, Pieta' Hotspurs FC are third from bottom with ten points from fourteen matches played. They are coming from four consecutive defeats and in their last match, they were defeated by league leaders Hibernians FC with a 2-0 score.

Midfielder Johann Bezzina, who joined our club in this January Transfer Market, is in line to make his debut as all paperwork has been finalised with the Malta Football Association.

In the first-round match, the Stripes came from behind to defeat Pieta' Hotspurs FC with a 2-1 score thanks to a goal each in the second half by Michael Mifsud and Cain Attard, after Jan Busutill had put the Hotspurs ahead mid-way the first half.

Come on the Stripes!
