BOV Premier League - Birkirkara FC vs. Hibernians FC

by Ayrton Galea - 5th April 2019

Birkirkara FC and Hibernians FC will go head to head in a match that could provide a significant step in the aspirations of the two teams when they will lock horns this evening at the National Stadium (Kick Off - 19:00).

On the back of last weekend's last-minute victory against Sliema Wanderers FC, the Stripes will be seeking to produce another gallant performance to continue their pursuit to secure a top-four finish in the BOV Premier League.

A tough encounter with Hibernians FC, who led the standings for most of the season, could shape up as the best possible examination for their chances of reaching their aspirations as the Paolites will be desperate for a victory.

Three consecutive draws have not only punctured Hibernians' progress towards the title but also saw them slipping to the second place behind leaders Valletta FC who will be involved in a difficult match against Gzira United FC on Sunday.

Coach Mark Buttigieg, who enjoyed a winning start last weekend, must do without midfielder Terence Agius who will be serving his second match suspended.

On the other hand, Hibernians FC must do without Marcelo Dias who will start his three-match ban. The Paolities' Coach will be omitted from the bench, after receiving a one-match suspension.

Hibernians emerged victorious in the first round with a 2-1 score. Jake Grech scored the goal for the Stripes who tomorrow will be facing his former team for the first time. An own goal and Tiago Adan Fonseca scored for Hibernians.
