BOV Premier League - Sliema Wanderers FC vs. Birkirkara FC

by Ayrton Galea - 7th December 2019

Birkirkara FC will be seeking their third consecutive victory in the BOV Premier League, when this afternoon they face Sliema Wanderers FC in a match that will be played at the Hibernians Stadium (Kick-Off - 16:00).

The Stripes struggled more than expected to overcome the challenge of Nadur Youngsters FC but a last-minute goal by Federico Falcone was enough for them to secure their place in the fourth round of the FA Trophy.

Their last victory was their third consecutive one in all competitions following back-to-back victories in the league. In the last two matches, the Stripes defeated Santa Lucia FC and Tarxien Rainbows FC with a 2-0 and 3-0 score respectively.

On the other hand, Sliema Wanderers are still coming to terms with their shocking early exit in the FA Trophy following a 2-0 defeat against Santa Lucia leaving them with an impossible task of lifting any silverware this season.

Their surprising defeat came after the Wanderers had emerged as winners with a comfortable 4-0 score against the same side. The Wanderers are also coming from two consecutive victories after they had defeated Hamrun Spartans FC with a 2-0 score in their match before.

Birkirkara are occupying the ninth place and a win tomorrow would see them moving to seventh, just two points under Hamrun Spartans FC. On the other hand, the Wanderers are eleventh and a win would see them moving one point ahead of the Stripes.
