Birkirkara FC secured their second consecutive victory in the BOV Premier League yesterday evening when they defeated Tarxien Rainbows FC with a comfortable 3-0 score.

In a match that the Stripes dominated for long stretches, Federico Falcone broke the deadlock in the first half before a brace by Luke Montebello added further gloss on a deserved victory.

By this victory, the Stripes climbed to the eleventh place on ten points, just one point behind Balzan FC. This was the first time this season that the Stripes registered back to back victories.

Coach André Paus used the same players in the same formation of last match, and they delivered the same goods against Tarxien.

The Stripes manage to take the lead after eight minutes, when Luke Montebello squared the ball for Federico Falcone who hit home from close range.

Past the half an hour, it took an outstanding save from Tarxien goalkeeper to prevent Alex Alves from doubling the score.

On the 57th minute the stripes doubled the score by Luke Montebello who slotted the ball past goalkeeper Daniel Fernandes following an erratic clearance.

Thirteen minutes from time, Montebello wrapped up the 3 points with a superb finishing when he received a glorious pass from Claudio Bonanni, before Montebello forced the ball through the legs of Matthew Tabone and then past Fernandes at the far post.

After a solid performance, Luke Montebello was named the BOV Player of the Match.
