Birkirkara FC shared the spoils in a goal-less draw against Santa Lucia FC. By this result, Birkirkara and Gzira are sharing the fifth place with twenty-five points, one point behind Mosta. However, the Maroons have a game in hand.

The Stripes squandered the opportunity to keep the pace with the first four teams of the league, when regardless of were the better side, they were unable to pick-up the three points as they failed to convert several open chances.

Birkirkara went twice close in the opening moments, after just 21 seconds Mbong set free by Montebello, hit fiercely towards goal only for goalkeeper Christopher Farrugia to block his attempt. Few minutes after, Luke Montebello had a great opportunity to score but his first-time shot was high from Cain Attard's cross.

Two minutes into the second half, Victor Filho delivered a cross for Leandro Motta whose attempt was parried by Alessandro Guarnone and on the 53rd, Paul Mbong was unlucky to hit the crossbar from the edge of the area.

Goalkeeper Farrugia was the protagonist again after Enrico Pepe collected possession deep in his own half, surged forward, outsprinted two defenders before hitting a rising shot which was blocked into a corner by Farrugia.

Coach Andre Paus made an attacking change bringing on Caio for Montebello.

Caio was soon in the thick of things, as he served Yankam, who looped the ball over to Timothy Tabone Desira before hitting it feebly straight at Farrugia.

The score remained unchanged with both teams taking a point each.
