Birkirkara FC consolidated their fourth place in the BOV Premier League when they returned to winning ways after defeating Floriana FC with a 2-0 score.

Two stunning goals in the second half by Paul Mbong and Luke Montebello enabled the Stripes to win maximum points and overcome the stern challenge of Floriana.

The Stripes are now in fourth place, four points over Sliema Wanderers FC and five points under Gzira United FC.

Birkirkara Coach Mr. Andre Paus made three changes from the 2-2 draw against Sliema Wanderers FC, as Enrico Pepe, Isaac Ntow and Yannic Yankam replaced Oscar Carniello, Kurt Zammit and Roderick Briffa respectively.

Birkirkara replied four minutes later, when Yannick Yankam surged inside the area, but his cross found goalkeeper Akpan who cleared the danger.

Following a goalless first half, the Stripes surged ahead on the 48 minutes. When Paul Mbong managed to beat Akpan with a powerful drive from long-distance.

Floriana replied on the 57 minutes, when Jan Busuttil`s shot from outside the box ended over.

The Stripes went close to double the lead four minutes later in a rapid counter-attack, but Isaac Ntow`s shot was turned into a corner by Akpan.
