Birkirkara FC have been eliminated from the Europa League with a 1-0 aggregate loss at the hands of Slaven Belupo.

Despite being eliminiated, the Birkirkara FC clan can be extremely pleased with the performance that the players put in, where they showed great determination and a huge will to turn the result around.

Despite being on paper a much stronger side, Slaven Belupo had to face constant pressure by the Birkirkara attack.

Birkirkara went closest to breaking the deadlock after forty-two minutes when a Shaun Bajada shot slotted past the Slaven goalkeeper and into the net, only for the linesman to flag an offside position by the Birkirkara winger.

With Omar Borg performing a number of good saves, Sylvano Comvalius had a glorious chance to score, when he shot wide in a one-on-one situation against the Belupo goalie.

Just before the referee's full-time whistle, the situation on the pitch started to heat-up, with a small number of players involved in minor arguments against each other. This followed some moments of unfair play by the Slaven players which were appreciated by neither the Birkirkara players and nor the noisy supporters.

With the referee signaling the end of the first qualifying round of the Europa League, the Birkirkara fans, led by the usual Birkirkara Ultras, applauded and cheered their beloved players for the great performance that they put in.
