Thanks to a display of determination and great will to succeed, the Birkirkara FC boys managed to come back from two goals down to draw 2-2 against champions Hibernians. All this with just ten men on the pitch!

Striker Sylvano Comvalius had a glorious chance to put the 'Stripes' ahead after just thirteen minutes, when George Mallia was sent to the ground by Kevin Cassar, with the referee having no option but to award our side a penalty, from which the Dutch player failed to capitalize.

As usual, our side was made to pay for such a big miss, as on the thirty-fifth minute mark, Rumen Galabov blasted the ball into the net from close range.

Just before the clocked marked the seventieth minute of the match, Thomas Paris was shown the second yellow card of the match, and was therefore sent off, leaving the team with ten players.

The Paolite supporters had even more to cheer about when Malasenoks chipped the ball over Omar Borg just two minutes after Paris' sending off.

With the 'Stripes' 2-0 and a man down, Trevor Cilia unleashed a shot which ended up in Mario Muscat's net, to give some hope to the brave Birkirkara FC supporters who challenged the cold weather and made their way up to Ta' Qali.

With the 'Karkarizi' still applauding the team for the first goal, Karl Pulo advanced into the Hibernians penalty area before slotting the ball into Muscat's net for the second time in two minutes, something which created total pandemonium in the Birkirkara side of our National stadium's encloseur.

The final whistle found the Hibernians clan cursing their luck for conceding two goals in the space of two minutes against a brave ten-men Birkirkara team.

With this draw, the 'Stripes' are now top of the league on equal points with Valletta and Qormi who face each other on Monday.
