In windy conditions and in front of a surprisingly very miserable crowd, Birkirkara did what they had to in order to go on top with co-leaders Qormi, as they defeated troubled Dingli S. by two goals to nil.

Despite showing less concentration and lethal finishing in front of goal, like we were used to see against the likes of Qormi and Tarxien R., our team managed to score the all-important goals in the build-up to the tough match against Hibernians.

Birkirkara had the first real opportunity after nine minutes of play, when Trevor Cilia was served on the right, and with Sylvano Comvalius to his left and only the keeper to beat, the Birkirkara born player shot just wide.

Cilia didn't have much time to worry about his mistake, as five minutes later he was celebrating the first goal of the match with his fellow team mate Sylvano Comvalius, as the latter managed to pounce on a mistake by goalkeeper Farrugia, and shot the ball in the empty net.

Despite gifting such a goal to the Birkirkara side, the Dingli S. should really be proud of his top notch performance, as he constantly kept his team in the match with his fine reflex saves.

On twenty-three minutes, captain Michael Galea had a good opportunity to add another goal, but his headed effort from close range went high.

With Birkirkara seeming to waste more and more opportunities, Dingli S. almost managed to equalize, when Da Silva was left alone in our penalty area, but luckily, his powerful shot rattled the crossbar.

The referee blew for half-time with the score reading 1-0.

Birkirkara continued to be the better side in the second half, and managed to dictate the flow of the game, however, the few brave supporters who went up to the Ta'Qali National Stadium, led by the usual Birkirkara Ultras, were wary that this was just a slender lead, and that a minimal error could lead to crucial points being dropped unnecessary. However, as late as the 86th minute, it was Sylvano Comvalius yet again, who managed to beat Farrugia with a wonderful shot from inside the penalty area, to put the game beyond any doubt.

BirkirkaraFC.com would like to urge all of the supporters to support the team by coming to the stadium, irrelevant of who the opponent is, as each and every point is now important to challenge for the major honours.

See you all vs. Hibs!
