Birkirkara aim for second place

by Ayrton Galea - 9th April 2011

On Sunday afternoon Birkirkara will be involved in a very important match for the participation in the Europa League as 'The Stripes' will face Tarxien Rainbows.

Birkirkara are coming from the most embarrassing defeat this season as with a disastrous performance they were humiliated by Floriana with a score of 5-1. On the other hand Tarxien are coming from a 1-0 loss against Valletta.

This will be the tenth match between Birkirkara and Tarxien Rainbows in their history. Three matches ended in a draw. One was last month, and the other two being another goal-less draw in the first round of this season, and a 3-3 draw in the third round of the previous season. The other six matches were won by Birkirkara. In a total of eight matches, 'The Stripes' managed to score eighteen goals and conceded six.

This will be the fourth and final time that these two teams will meet in this Premier League. The first two matches were ended in a goal-less draw. In the other match 'The Stripes' emerged as winners with a score of 3-1.

Mr. Paul Zammit will have to do without the services of Michael Fraser, Patrick Borg and Andrei Agius. Michael Fraser and Patrick Borg are still ruled out injured while Andrei Agius is suspended after being sent off in the last game. Ryan Scicluna is also struggling with a minor injury and might not recover in time.

The match will be played at the National Stadium and it will commence at 17:00. Transport from Valley Road is available and it will leave at 16:00.

Come on the Stripes!
