Mosta Tournament kicks off tonight

by Ayrton Galea - 25th July 2011

This evening Birkirkara will be playing their first match of the Gammari' Muscat Mosta Tournament. Iin the second fixture scheduled for today, Birkirkara will face the organisers Mosta.

Last Friday, Birkirkara played a friendly match against Marsaxlokk and they won the match with a score of 3-2, with a Hungarian striker on trial scoring a brace and the other goal being scored by Rowen Muscat. For this match Birkirkara had a large selection of foreigners and those who left a good impression and will be selected for today's match.

For tonight's match a larger selection will be available for selection as more foreigners arrived Malta during the last three days and they are expected to make their debut today.

Mr. Patrick Curmi however will not have his full selection of Maltese players as he cannot count on Shaun Bajada, Paul Fenech, Trevor Cilia and Rowen Muscat who are all ruled out injured. Due to the large selection of foreigners, the head coach had no option but to not call up several Maltese players in order to give more chance to these new foreigners.

The match will kick off at 20:45 and like all the matches of this tournament, it will be played at the Mosta Grounds.

Since the format of this tournament is round robin, where all the teams will face each other, if the match ends in a draw no extra time or penalties will be taken but the two teams will win a point each.
