Birkirkara to face Mqabba this evening

by Ayrton Galea - 16th September 2011

Birkirkara will be aiming to bounce back from last Saturday's disappointing performance, when in the first match for today they will face a tricky challenge in the form of Mqabba FC.

Last week it was the most negative performance so far in this league campaign as Birkirkara were dominated by Hibernians and the latter won with a comfortable score of 3-0 score. One should say that Hibernians dominated throughout the whole ninety minutes and there is no doubt that it was a deserved loss for Mr. Patrick Curmi's side.

If for Birkirkara it was the most negative performance, for Mqabba it was the most positive one. Not only because they registered their first win with a 2-0 score against Marsaxlokk but one should also mention that they played for fifty minutes with one player less after striker Thiago Dos Santos Mazzitelli who opened the score for Mqabba, was sent off on the 42nd minute.

For this match Andrew Decesare will be back after he was suspended in the last match. Rowen Muscat and Shaun Bajada are still ruled out injured while Nigerian striker Shola Haruna Shodyia is still unavailable as documents needed to register him failed to arrive on time.

In an interview with this website which was published yesterday, team captain Paul Fenech said that there is a lot to say about the match against Hibernians but it is a must that in the next game, against Mqabba, the team will show that the game against Hibernians was a rare performance.

The match will be played at the National Stadium and it is scheduled to kick off at 18:00. Transport from Valley Road is available and leaves at 17:00.

After losing to Hibernians, will Birkirkara bounce back or they will suffer a second consecutive loss?
