Stripes aiming to move back on top

Birkirkara could once again move to the top of the table joint with Valletta, but to do so, first they have to overcome the tricky test in the form of Tarxien Rainbows.
With Valletta beating Hibernians with a surprising 4-1 score, The Citizens moved as sole leaders of the BoV Premier League but their sole leadership might only last for 24 hours as a win for ‘The Stripes' will also see them moving on top of the table.
Birkirkara are in a must win situation as they had been struggling for a win in the last four matches. They were held in a draw against Balzan Youths, Rabat Ajax, Floriana and Hibernians in their last four outings. Their last win goes back to the 17 November when Birkirkara defeated Melita with a 3-0 score.
On the other hand, Tarxien Rainbows could be considered as the surprise package of the moment as a win for ‘The Rainbows' will once again put them in the third place, just two points under leaders Valletta. Tarxien are going through an unbeaten run of five matches as their last defeat goes back to the 11th November against Qormi with a 2-1 score. From then, Tarxien held Valletta in a 1-1 score, beating Sliema Wanderers, Hamrun Spartans and Balzan Youths and were held in a 1-1 draw against Floriana in the last outing.
Birkirkara are currently in the fourth place with 30 points, just three under leaders Valletta and two above the same Tarxien Rainbows. A win for ‘The Stripes' will definetly boost their moral and put them back on track before the much awaited match against Valleta.
Birkirkara, who defeated Tarxien Rainbows in the previous round with a 4-1 score, will have Jhonnattann Benites suspended while Ryan Sammut is suspended for ‘The Rainbows'.
The match will be played at the Hibernians Stadium and it is scheduled to kick off at 16:00.
