Birkirkara to take on Qormi in stern test

by Ayrton Galea - 4th October 2013

Champions Birkirkara will be aiming to continue gathering momentum tomorrow afternoon, when they will be hoping to collect another three points when they take on Qormi in a delicate encounter.

After suffering their first defeat two weeks ago against Hibernians, last week, Birkrikara showed great attitude as they overcame by beating Valletta, thanks to a magnificent performance.

The Stripes have a satisfactory start in this Premier League campaign, although it is still in its initial stages. They have been defeated one, registered four wins while they shared the spoils in the match against Sliema Wanderers.

Tomorrow's match could prove to be a testing one for the Stripes. Although Qormi's start has been rather disappointing, the Stripes should be in their best form in order to get the three points, as Qormi will be all out to make up for their disappointing start in the competition.

Birkirkara and Qormi have totally different aspirations for this season. While the Maltese Champions will be seeking to defend their title, Qormi will be doing their utmost to make it to the Championship Pool after failing to do so last year.

However, Qormi's high hopes few weeks before the beginning of the Premier League have been damped by their negative start in the competition. The Yellow-Blacks so far registered just one win from six matches, and they are coming from three consecutive defeats against Valletta, Vittoriosa Stars and Hibernians respectively.

The Stripes will be boosted by the return of Brazilian defender Matheus Bissi, who will be available for selection, following being suspended in the last match against Valletta.

Birkirkara are currently third with thirteen points, five under leaders Hibernians who registered maximum points in the first six matches. On the other hand, Qormi are third from bottom with just three points.

The match will be played at the National Stadium and it scheduled to kick off at 18:00. Transport will be leaving from the Infetti Training Grounds at 17:00, following a pre-match event at the Youth Nursery's Bar.

Come on the Stripes!
